Details:

Buyer purchased high end designer St. John knits Red evening dress and matching jacket for $850. The item was new with tags, never been worn and immaculate condition. Buyer insisted on picking up the item in person and then informed me three days later that it did not fit and she wanted to return it. The garments returned were not in the same condition as she took them. Stains on the dress, the lining was ripped out of the jacket, the tags had been removed and restitched, the ribbon lacing on the sides was ripped. Dress was dirty, covered in dust and gray filaments. Not the same dress she picked up.

"Mary Maxwell" probably isn't her real name. When mailing high dollar items send package with signature confirmation and sufficient insurance. If returned in any condition other than as sold, deduct 50% restocking fee and recoup all shipping costs. Immediately file a police report and provide both Ebay and Paypal with the report number. Prior to shipping Google the shipping address and do a reverse address search to see if the address comes back with the buyer's name as the resident. If there is anything suspicious cancel the order with a generic "I'm very sorry but the item has a flaw I did not see when it was listed" and be done with the transaction. Better to tell a little white lie than to deal with an obvious scammer on the other side of the sale. This is how I proceed with high dollar sales and I have successfully avoided being scammed in over two years.
