Hal Davis purchased a medical device from us, which he used for two years, contaminating it with his blood. When the two years had passed and we introduced an updated model, he claimed that he had the right to send his old one back to us and pay the small difference for a brand new one. In his opinion, that was his right under our warranty (which only covers malfunction, not free upgrades, of course). When we explained this, he said "Stop fighting me" and "You offend me". Then he accused us of being liars, that we "do not honor the warranty anymore". Finally, he demanded we pay him $185 or he would "use my contacts at the OFT" to damage our company. This makes Hal Davis guilty of criminal blackmail and attemoted fraud.
