Patience Bristol arrested for theft
Patience Bristol, a court-appointed guardian has been arrested for theft.

Bristol was entrusted to manage the financial affairs for people who were unable to do so themselves.

Authorities were notified about unusual activity from four of Bristol’s clients, according to Fox 5 Vegas.

Their investigation founds that the court-appointed guardian had withdrawn funds from clients’ accounts and also stole jewelry.

Bristol told investigators that she and her boyfriend, who is allegedly married to someone else, are receiving unemployment benefits, have a gambling problem, and that they used the stolen money to pay bills and buy food.

According to online complaints, Bristol and her boyfriend, Jared Shafer have been taking advantage of the ill and vulnerable for many years and were associated with a company known as PFSN, Inc. Bristol has also been mentioned in association with a company named Guardianship Solutions.

A sampling of the numerous online complaints include:

A man who says he went to high school in Las Vegas with Jared Shafer, who was then known as Jerry Shafer, claims that a cousin of his was kept isolated by Patience Bristol and Shafer, had her lifelong savings of $140,000 stolen, was placed in a substandard retirement facility and ultimately died.
A person claims Patience Bristol was assigned as guardian to the person’s uncle, John Morrell, who had Alzheimers disease, in 2010. According to the complaint, Bristol befriended the man and then isolated him from his family. Morrell’s home was sold for far below market value to Shafer and, according to the complaint, he was ripped off for more $300,000. The family claims they later found out he died of starvation.
A person who claims to be engaged in a court fight since 2010 with both Bristol and Shafer over the care the person’s mother is receiving and for theft of the mother’s 15 carat diamond ring. The person alleges that when Bristol found out a lawyer was hired she said,
You stupid families never learn, but Jared Shafer and I will teach you the facts of Las Vegas life

There are over 65 online complaints posted naming either Patience Bristol or Jared Shafer within the past two years.

Bristol has been charged with one count relating to non sufficient funds, four counts of exploiting old and vulnerable persons, eight counts of burglary and three counts of obtaining money under false pretenses.

It has not been disclosed if any charges have been filed against Jerry Shafer, although online arrest records do not show any current charges pending.
