Very probable case of "chargeback" fraud. Buyer purchased/paid for my civil war items middle of January 2013. On April 5 (2013) I was notified of a "chargeback" on this transaction--almost 3 FULL months after the transaction took place!

Buyer "claimed" that charges were "unauthorized" Let's think about this: We aren't talking about someone who had their CC stolen out of their purse/wallet. This transaction went through paypal, which acts as a "safe box." In order to access the CC, you have to have user i.d. and password. How was this an "unauthorized" transaction without allowing someone access to your user i.d. and password?

Also, after checking their "buyer" feedback, I noticed many of their purchased items were civil war related--just like my item. AND they had left feedback for these purchased items. I find it VERY ironic that the "unauthorized" transaction happened to be just like the other items that they had purchased and left feedback for. Makes you wonder how many transactions they claimed "unauthorized."

Anyway, even though I have only experienced this once, I have heard of this "chargeback" scheme through paypal happening quite often now when it really should be a rare occurrence.

Here is the beauty of this scam: the complaint is filed through their credit card (NOT ebay, NOT paypal), the CC pulls payment from paypal and, in turn, paypal pulls payment from you (the seller). At first, there is an "investigation" and paypal will hold your funds until it is resolved; but, trust me, 99.99% of the time it will NOT be in your favor. "Buyer" does not have to admit to having your merchandise (even though there is delivery confirmation) AND they do not have to return the merchandise in order to get their money back because the complaint is not about whether or not they received the item, its about the "unauthorized" payment of the item.

In my case, the "buyer" even got their shipping expenses back because I had included free shipping in the deal. "Buyer" just sits back, plays dumb, and--with a few clicks of the mouse and maybe a phone call--gets free merchandise.

Please sellers, be vigilant of this scam. I cannot prove this is what happened to me 100% because ebay is NOT ALLOWING SELLERS TO LEAVE FEEDBACK TO PROTECT EACH OTHER FROM THIS SORT OF NONSENSE. I am turning to badbuyerlist.org in order to help other sellers who may cross paths with this buyer.

This is false I bet if you asked the seller about this today he will tell you he was paid in full! And it was NOT a scam as he just dragged my name threw the mud! Along with my information! It was not my fault my credit card put a hold on ALL my purchases!!! Not just his! And I contacted each seller and explained this to them and they all graciously understood! But him!!! For the record EVERYONE was PAID!!!The least he could do is correct this and make it right!!!!!
