"First off" should be followed by a comma.
"Hooked on fonics" is a title, and should be written with quotes. Also, "fonics" is not how "phonics" is spelled.
"English" needs capitalization.
The clause "that someone can understand" should be "so someone can understand."
You wrote a sixteen word sentence that contained four errors - that means you average one mistake every 4 words. Perhaps you and OP can split the cost of a college English course.
