You should of NEVER given any refund to anyone. That was the scam. To see what they could get away with. The fact they refused to return the item was the first red flag that you were being set up for a scam. You should report this immediately to ebay and gather up your evidence. Ebay should be the one that would be legally liable for it. The second someone goes against your policies, you should get Ebay involved immediately. Tell the asshole that you have ebay involved and you'll see the person chance their story.
