Details: | Game was for Xbox One and from personal collection and work perfectly the day before shipping. Buyer emailed claiming that the game was smudged and scratched (a blatant lie) and would not work. Customer was advised to return the game and once it was verified to be the copy he was sent (via inconspicuous seller mark on the disc), a refund would be issued. Instead of returning the game, the buyer filed an A-to-Z claim a few days later. Amazon found in his favor, but was nice enough to fund it. Still, the customer attempted to pull a scam, got called on it and still came out with a free game and his money. Mailing name is also clearly fictitious. |

Why did he get refunded if he didnt return the product. You have a legal case against Amazon. Buyers arent entitled to any type of refund unless the proof of return is made. Unless he said to come and pick up the item.

Its Amazon, where nothing makes sense. I still got to keep the moneysince Amazon funded the refund themselves, so I lost nothing in the process. I just wanted to inform others about this scammer, because their next victim may not be as fortunate.

You should consider your own platform then. If places like Amazon and EBay are notorious for buyer ass kissing, its bad for sellers. You dont want Ebay or a place like them controlling the payments. Because they know you have no control over it and they will favor the buyer every time. If you have your own site or post your items on a marketplace as a secondary site, your limiting your exposure from assholes like that guy.
In addition, you can contact the makers of the video game and have copyright charges filed against him, for making an illegal copy. If you want to get him backs one way.

Even if you set up your own website and store, the credit card processors will still side with the customers the majority of the time. Taking losses on chargebacks and returns is just a cost of doing business, unfortunately, and the bigger player has the ability to put the burden on the smaller player.
