Details: | Out of the blue I got an angry message from this irate buyer telling me they were "disgusted" that I hadn't falsified their customs documents to preclude them from paying customs fees. They claimed the fees were 30£ and volunteered to send a scan of the invoice but they never did. They demanded I pay 30£ ($47) or they'd take my money from ebay and send the item back. (Fortunately, they were stupid enough to explicitly state this in an eBay message, thereby rendering themselves ineligible for buyer protection) ..... I apologized, stating they never told me to change the customs documents, and suggested they return the item for a refund. They said that wasn't possible, since they'd have to pay 30£ and drive *gasp* 20 miles to the post office, a "pathetic situation" as they put it. I suggested they do not pick up the item and just let it get returned to me automatically, that way, they'd get a completely free return and pay no customs fees and get 100% of their money back. ..... Also, they kept saying I overcharged them on postage. I scanned the postage receipt proving I charged exact postage to the penny and they never abated or recognized receiving the proof. I also sent a screenshot of the invoice they paid which said "customs fees are the buyer's responsibility" They never acknowledged seeing this ...... A couple days later, I noticed the tracking data said their package was delivered, so I know they picked up the item, despite my suggestion not to. ..... I've since heard nothing from them at all, even though I've been asking them when they planned to return the item. Looks like they are keeping it. ..... To top it off, they continually insinuated that they always get out of customs taxes AND their account is listed as an "eBay business account". Pretty unscrupulous. ...... If anyone is interested in seeing proof of this story, let me know in the comments and I will email screenshots of their messages to anyone who asks. Thank you for reading and Best Wishes! |
