Bad Buyer: samsungtdc2017_3 <emcore889@yahoo.com>

Details

Purchase date:November 2017
Buyer's name:Kevin Pei
Buyer's username:samsungtdc2017_3
E-mail:emcore889@yahoo.com
Buyer's address1041 Cynthia Lane San Jose CA 95129
Store:eBAY
eBay item #:311334004037
Buyer's country:United States
Payment method:PayPal
Category:Electronics
Details:

Buyer purchased item then wanted to return it. They created a return label, then cut the label apart and changed the return address to another business in my city / zip code. The buyer shipped an empty box to the other business with the same zip code. This was done to fool paypal. Once paypal / ebay saw the return had been delivered they posted a 400.00 refund to the buyer. The buyer kept the original products and received a money. In doing this they defrauded me, committed mail fraud and cheated the ebay returns system. I however have been working with ebay as well as the USPS in the matter. The buyer feels safe but luckily I was able to obtain scans of the fraudulent label and track the package down. I'll let the legal end of things happen from here on.

wow! this guy just bought something from me and is asking for a return. eBay cannot step in until Thursday but already called them and said I am not accepting his return because based on his eBay feedback it is obvious he is a scammer and has done this to other sellers. So sorry this is happening to you. Hopefully this does not happen to me either! Also let PayPal know - they have their own tracking on bad buyers and when I called them they said this guy has a long history of red flags and will be opening their own investigation.

The buyer is committing credit card fraud and tampering with USPS labels ( mail fraud ). I wish you luck in pleading your case to eBay. I know my rep "red flagged" the buyer. Hopefully you'll be successful in winning the case.

wow! I really hope he gets in trouble for what he's done to you. Has eBay refunded your money?

Posted almost 7 years ago by 108.162.X.X Report as SPAM

Ebay did take care of the refund. As I explained the case over the phone they could see it was a case of fraud on the buyers part. It was the first and only time I've encountered such fraud. I've been selling on ebay nearly 18 years. Good luck to you.

eBay says i have to take the return. even though they know his history they can't apply is past actions to me and he is still allowed to buy. makes no sense. how did you get scans of the fraudulent label? do you have any tips for me
?

I went to my local post office and spoke to the clerk. Had them use the tracking number to pull the GPS location of delivery. Then they called the main mail sorting facility in my state where they scan ( image ) every package that goes through. They emailed the clerk the photo of the package w/ the tracking number and she then forwarded it to me. It's a bit of a hassle but can be done. The eBay rep refunded me as a courtesy without the image. He said that ebay would cover it as "delivered package, stolen from porch" write off on their end. Hope that helps. Basically the buyer got away with the fraud but ebay covered the refund instead of me. I didn't like the way it ended but it saved me over $400.00.

Thanks for the tips! I actually called eBay back and talked to a different person. She said that she is closing the case in my favor based on the history of the buyer and claims other sellers have made. They are going to put the money back in my PayPal account too. Phew!! So thank you for the doing the dirty work ahead of me - you and the other sellers that have made claims. It has saved me a ton of hassle! Hopefully they shut this guys account down soon - your situation happened in November - its been 3 months now - long enough!

That's great news for you. I'm glad it worked out in your favor. Hopefully eBay will put a ban on this buyer for life.

Wow what a impressive scam which I wasn't aware of yet ! Selling on eBay since 1999 and trying to stay up to date with all kind of scam & scammer to try avoiding them. Thank you for reporting this which will help LOT of other seller like you. Wish also there were more site like this one to help block all the on line scammer though.

eBay also removed my feedback that I left on his feedback page - it says "this comment has been removed by eBay" instead of my original comment warning sellers of this guy...

Well the thing is the only thing this person is going to do is make a new name and repeat the process. You need to file postal fraud charges with the postal inspectors office. The address will go into a database and there might be a chance they might investigate it. but reality is call the local police department in that morons home town, enough calls from people, they will do something about it. The only reason why you got the refund from Ebay was the fact they received so many complaints about the buyer over the same thing over and over again.

This will happen again in one way or another. You saw how easy it was to be ripped off because of Ebay and PayPal. The thing is are you going to let history repeat itself. Or are you going to limit your fraud by not selling high priced items on ebay and move to your own site.

This buyer bought an camera from me on Nov 2017 ($700) and asked to return. I sent him a FedEx return label myself. I also kept tracking of camera serial number. Why FedEx? First, they can't not change address on FedEx label. Second, you have the option to have package returned to FedEx center next to your home. You can open package at FedEx to prove that they return something different. He returned it but stole camera charger. Third, FedEx shows actual weight of the package. If return package is much lighter, you know it's a scam. For USPS, you don't know that.

Do not let ebay send them USPS label. With USPS label, they can edit it and change shipping address to somewhere with the same zip code. Right after package is delivered, they will call ebay to get refund. It has been happened to me for another transaction. I went to local USPS and they gave me a photo of the package which showed shipping label. The address on the label is not my address so they have edited the address by photoshop. I even came to that address to pick up the letter (they returned a letter instead of camera). You know, if you use FedEx, you can see the different weight.

Ebay refunded me money. I don't know why this ebay account is still active.
