Details: | I recently posted my DJI Phantom 4 on the "LetGo" app and received an offer from someone with the name "li.jon". He gave me his phone number and we talked for a while on pricing and such and everything seemed legit. I agreed to ship the package (stupid mistake... I know) and once I would send him the USPS receipt, he would PayPal me the money plus the shipping cost. At this point, I had trusted the guy being that we texted for a while and even spoken on the phone. Long story short, after multiple attempts to send me the money, he claimed it would not work. He did provide screenshots of the error messages he got. My logic was that if he was a scammer, he would not be wasting his time by texting me all throughout the day faking to try and send the money but after it was coming close to the delivery date, I decided to (and luckily did) get in contact with the Houston USPS site and they were helpful enough to intercept the package mid-delivery and will be returning it no cost. The guy is still claiming the not be a scammer but here is all the information I have going against him that says scammer to me: -phone number is a "Text-Now Subscriber" number and area code is from Georgia (not Texas) -time on phone in screenshots is Eastern Standard Time (not Texas time) -his PayPal account had a completely different name than his given name -the address given turns out to be the U.S. address for "ISOX SHIPPING LTD" which ships packages to Africa and funny enough he gave his name as "John Isox" (hmm...) -after calling him out as a scammer he made up a completely new story that he is in Germany for work and will not be home until next week (even though he never mentioned that and the time on his phone says differently) Again, I will not conclusively say that this man is a scammer but PROCEED WITH CAUTION if you do end up talking to him. As they say, better safe than sorry. Here is all the information I have on him (although I assume some of it is made up): Name: John Osondu Isox Address: **** Commerce Park Drive, Suite ***, Houston, Texas 77036 I will not give out his phone number or address number due to privacy reasons but if you do have any suspicions with this guy, please contact me so I can help. I definitely learned my lesson and I hope my stupidity can help someone later in the future. Thank you and be safe! |
