Details: | Buyer bought a pre-owned Intel CPU from us and started a return for "Changed Mind". When we got it back, we noticed glue spots around the IHS (heatsink) and PCB. We tested the chip and found it would not boot/run at all. The IHS are often held with a type of permanent cement and cannot be removed without high heat baking and special removal jig. But because of the glue spots, we ran a razer down all the spots and was relatively easy to split the IHS and the PCB. Once open, we saw the CPU die was completely shattered and the IHS back side, where it should be smooth metal was scraped in a very unprofessional and reckless manner. We don't know if the buyer attempted to delid our processor (commonly done with Intel to replace the stock thermal material under the IHS) or they swapped our lid onto an already shattered and destroyed processor. We charged a maximum 50% restocking fee and asked the buyer to remit payment for the remaining amount but they did not respond. |
