Details: | A long post - sorry.
A buyer won my dress with the highest bid and immediately after winning sent a message asking whether the dress was above knee length or knee length. . I replied that the measurements in the listing show the length from shoulder to hem but as people are different heights and I don't know how tall she is I could not answer her question. I also quoted the listing which says 'Label says size 16/18 but please compare measurements with a similar dress in your wardrobe.'
The tone of the message was not friendly so I added politely that she had won the auction so could she please reply and let me know how and when she would be paying.
Her reply was to curtly tell me to cancel because I was rude.
I then checked her feedback and at first it seemed good - 100% from sellers but then I looked at the feedback left for others and saw that she has left 16 feedback ratings since May and 6 of them were negative or neutral. I also noticed that there were 3 "Item did not received" negs in a 5 week period!
So I looked further back in her feedback history and found that since May 2012 there were 12 more negs / neuts including 5 more "did not received" I decided that I was not dealing with a buyer who was likely to be agreeable if I cancelled so decided to open a non payment dispute after 2 days which I have now done. During the time I was waiting for the 2 days to pass I received 2 more abusve messages saying she has reported the matter to ebay (??) I also blocked her from bidding on my items in the future and reported her to ebay. Her feedback to sellers shows that she has upset several sellers and one commented that her 100% feedback had been spoilt with no warning over 99p . I would have happily cancelled and offered it to the next highest bidder if she had been polite and would not have bothered to check out her buying record . In her first message to me after winning I sensed strongly that she was going to cause problems for me so checked her out as a precaution and as I discovered that she is a habitual complainant I feel that I am not going to join the other good sellers who have fallen foul of her and her cavalier attitude.
I have a feeling that my report to ebay that her megative feedback to sellers record is excessive will not be read or acted on.
Have I done the right thing?
Will I end up regretting being pro-active? |
