This crook is in the process of trying to scam us. We sent $3000 of music products to him in Florida. He arranged a UPS pickup and showed his ID and left with the merchandise. Then he filed a charge-back.

This is the 3rd one to happen to us since November 2017. I am holding the credit card companies responsible for their member's fraudulent activity. They have the duty of verifying the approval of these purchases. It's not rocket science. When a member buys large ticket items, VISA needs to phone call the member to verify the purchase or keep it on hold until the member agrees with the purchase. Instead they put us retailers in the hostile position of not having the product or the money for 90-180 days.

So why do we trust these credit card companies? They profit off of our sales and hold no risk whatsoever.

The problem is that you never shipped the item to his confirmed credit card address. If you bothered to notice the scam, he purposely refuses to take delivery at the door. He thinks that he can pick up the item at another location and then file a dispute. Since there's a record of fraud, contact the his local police department and both of you have to do it, so that the police start to see a patern of theft. Id call the postal inspectors office, UPS and FedEx fraud and have this asshole put on some sort of fraud list from UPS and FedEx. As long as the tracking information has that asshole taking delivery with a statement of the credit card's confirmed and verified address, then let him charge it back, he will loose.

No you put other people at risk. Do not blame visa and mastercard for your fraud. Its your responsibility to ensure every single transaction is taken with the most security precautions. The credit card company's didnt introduct you to the theif you did! your the one that processed a $3000 order and shipped it across state lines not the credit card company. Your the one that signed an agreement that clearly stated what the facts are and what the risks are when dealing with total strangers that you dont know. Did you insure the package, did you do restricted delivery, did you take precautions. You got ripped off for what procedures you do an dont. Your never going to stop it, but you have to make sure your 100% covered. If anyone you should be bitching about is you! Visa Mastercard and Amex are con artists they will rip you off but your credit card company is following what Visa, Amex and Mastercard dictate, not to mention the US government for consumer protection.

If you're routinely in the habit of shipping $3k worth of product without taking elementary precautions, I doubt you have the brains to aim a kick at anyone's teeth.
