Details: | The buyer bought a flip phone from me on Dec. 14 I explained shipping times were slow due to the national crisis and the holidays. Two days after the expected delivery of Dec. 22 he opens an "item not received"case with ebay along with a comment demanding his money back. So, I explain the delays with USPS, and I apologize profusely, and explain that he can track the package himself through "my ebay." Four days later, he sends another angry message demanding his money back. I check the tracking and the item is in Jersey City, NJ so I explain to him that he should get it soon, and that I cannot guarantee when it will arrive, all the while apologizing for the inconvenience. Flash forward to Jan 1, 2021 I get an even angrier message, and a demand that I immediately refund his money. I respond back saying I'm sorry for the inconvenience, and that if wants a refund he will need to ship the phone back as per my refund policy. He did not like that, so two days later he escalates the case with ebay, and they put the case on hold pending their decision. Fortunately, I had uploaded the tracking number, or I believe he would've gotten the money and the phone. Days later the buyer finally got the phone and closed the case, it was over, or at least that's what I thought.
At about 11:30pm that night the buyer filed for a return claiming the phone was damaged, I was livid. I had packed the phone perfectly: I put it in a small box covered in bubble wrap inside of a large padded envelope, packed with more bubble wrap and newspaper. The refund had one crappy photo of the phone, and on close inspection I saw that the "damage" was just the seam in the hard plastic shell of the flip phone. I offered him a partial refund for his inconvenience which he refuse, then I tried to message him back but ebay wouldn't allow it. The only option I had was to accept the return and pay the return postage because the buyer was claiming the item was defective. Also as you might've guessed the buyer left me negative feedback, and left one star ratings on everything he could. As of the time of writing this, I am waiting for him to send the phone back to me, and hoping that he is either too lazy or too stupid to mail it before the deadline. In conclusion, the morals of my story are. 1. don't ever sell to this guy, and 2. if you ever get an "item not received" case open against you make sure that you upload the track number to the case.
