Buyer contacted me outside the eBay system to do additional business. I told him, no thank you.

In case your wondering, WHY NOT? Here is some reasons not to do business outside of eBay.

First, RED FLAG to sellers that do business outside of eBay. Be aware, that if you do business outside the eBay system and get caught or if the buyer at any given time is disappointed in your product, then all this buyer has to do is turn around and RAT you out to eBay. All it takes is one email or phone call to eBay and you as the seller might as well call it QUITS. Never do sales outside eBay, otherwise, eBay will permanently suspend or shut your account down. Additionally, you will not be able to register again on the site.

Second, RED FLAG, the guy says he is based in JAPAN but has a U.S. address. If you read the forums or even check any online forum (ex. craigslist, or amazon, etc..) There is a HUGE scam circulating the internet online sites, that FRAUD buyers with overseas addresses are using paypal to SCAM U.S. seller out of there money. I can guarantee you will never see your merchandise again and before you know it, this buyer will claim 'item not described' or 'item not received' or claim a credit card charge-back on your paypal file. Because you didn't do business on eBay, PayPal is much harder to proof claims for the above scenarios. When dealing with paypal directly, just be aware of these issues, and you will most likely lose, especially that the buyer is from overseas. Despite, what people think eBay gives you a safe cushion and guarantee seller safety, against these claims. I've never had an issue, with any claims, as long as the transactions were done on eBay Site by following the rules and policies.

Also, buyers like this always want a discount. YEP, they want you to deal with them to give away your products for next to nothing. He claimed he wanted to do business with me, but he wanted the items CHEAP. wink-wink, I don't think so......

So, be aware of this buyer. If you contacts you simply reply NO and immediately report him to eBay. If he gets enough reports, then he will eventually get kick off eBay and banned.
