| Details: | Buyer name is Sean Bennett. He is a drop-shipper. He orders books, and has them sent to Sean Bennett c/o (someone else's name/address). He lists books on Amazon he doesn't have, for high prices, and says they are in NEW condition. Then when he gets a sale, he will buy a USED book from a legitimate seller on Amazon, eBay, Bonanza, wherever, and either have it sent to "Sean Bennett c/o XXXX" with his buyer's name and address, OR, if he's shipping internationally, he will have the book shipped to himself in Covington, KY, and then he will shrink-wrap the book, making it look like it might really be new from the publisher, and ship it himself internationally. Because he has the books sent to himself c/o real buyer, he's trying to get around Amazon drop-ship policies. If you challenge him on it, he will threaten to "report you to Amazon" and "give you bad feedback". He is scamming Amazon buyers, and making other (legitimate) Amazon sellers his accomplices. It may even be mail fraud to perform this type of scam. We believe he also now has someone in CA who is using his account and performing the same scam from that part of the country. |

Everything stated re: Bennett Books, LTD is true. Book purchased was not NEW, but USED and shrink-wrapped. A label was created out of KY co/XXX and then the book shipped from Los Angeles, CA. Purchase was made through AbeBooks, apparently under the umbrella of Amazon. Wish I had seen this post prior to purchase. Buyer be ware.

Same. Got burned by this bunch and Google brought me here. As soon as I ordered (from San Diego), a shipping label was created in Kentucky and the waiting began. The "new" boxed set arrived repackaged and ANYTHING but new. Gouges, deeps scratches, stains, the works. Now I'm having to make excuses for a failed Christmas gift, reorder from a reputable seller, and navigate the return/refund. I've used AbeBooks in the past without issue, but never again. They just gave me a canned response about shipping times due to holidays and left it to the seller to communicate with me. The seller(s) just play name games and act surprised.

Please know that this scamster is discrediting LEGITIMATE book dealers and ruining their good reputations by “pretending” to be those companies on Amazon. For example, we have used Abe Books for many years (we like natural history books) and so we know THEY are a longstanding reputable dealer. Please don’t be an unwitting part of this Bennet scam by damaging the good names of book dealers he is USING FRAUDULENTLY on Amazon, without those other (trustworthy) book dealers’ knowledge or consent. We accidentally ordered from this Bennet operation by clicking on the wrong item (visually impaired) & didn’t catch it until too late. Caveat Emptor.

I listed my late father's math and physics textbooks on Alibris and Biblio. I listed them below market as we are just trying to clear out my mom's house after his passing. Bennet Books found me on both sites as I was getting a lot of orders from him. Out of curiosity I searched for Bennet Books and came across this webpage. I shut down my account because of this scammer. I built up a 5 star rating and because I cancelled his orders, my rating dropped. Not worth my time, but I'm stuck with a several hundred textbooks I need to unload.

Me Too! This is the second time I've been ripped off by ABE. The first time with the complicity of Abe books for $80. This time for $74. ABE does nothing to police this site ever since Jeff Bezos bought it. Before that, I never had any problems. We have to put a stop to this. Chasing down these scams takes time which I don't have. But now I'm angry. Any suggestions.

This is the address currently listed on the AbeBooks account for BennettBooksLtd, which currently lists 2.4 million books (most claiming to be new) at unbelievably inflated prices. Bennett Books does this same thing on Amazon, often having the highest price for any given book.
The above address is a UPS Store, not an apartment. Dropshippers buy cheap, used copies of books and pass them off as new, hoping the buyer won't complain or leave bad feedback, and Amazon does nothing to stop them.
BUYERS: Read the seller's feedback, and shop around for the best price. Contact the seller before purchasing and consider asking for photos. You likely will be able to tell if the seller is honest and actually HAS the book by the quality of the response you receive.

This guy (maybe several people) has a variety of angles for his scams on Amazon Seller Center (Amazon 3rd Party Sellers) for books. He always has ABSURDLY high prices (often 2x to 4x the already highest price) for "New" or (at worst) "Like New" versions of books. They're all "in shrink wrap" (as if one couldn't shrink wrap any POS). But his listings appear and disappear. Either someone(s) or a bot is working to artificially raise the prices on unwitting sellers who use automated pricing (to remain competitive) to ridiculous prices so the OTHER, more legitimate account(s) "Bennett Ltd" has can snatch up sales. Someone needs to get this guy off of Amazon, Ebay, and everywhere else. He/them are disrupting a large segment of the online market.

This Bennet Books Ltd scam is still going on. I got involved through ABE books. The seller had 5 stars! I have used Abe books for years and trusted they did a decent job of vetting. It took me all of one search to come across this site. The book I ordered was advertised as new and in shrink wrap. When I got it there were numerous areas of damage to the cover that could have only occurred prior to shrink wrapping. Areas on the edges were missing. So DON’T BUY FROM BENNETT BOOKS LTD
