Details: | This buyer abused the eBay Money Back Guarantee to force the return of an unwanted item on a “No returns” listing. Lost the better part of $100 in shipping and final value fees. Buyer ordered a specialty item that would not work for his application by mistake. Instead of being honest the buyer chose to file a return request with eBay under defective and a claim with PayPal as significantly not as described. The unit I received back was in pristine condition with nothing unwrapped or showing any signs of having been tried out or used, was completely functional and matched the description of the listing perfectly. Since I could find nothing wrong with the item, I relisted it at a discount and sold the unit in under 24 hours. The new buyer said that everything was "exactly as described." A few other facts: • Buyer writes in incomplete and broken sentences which is a real eye-sore. Hurts to look at and read. • Buyer was not the brightest bulb in the box. Just a slight step above someone who files a claim WHILE the package is still in transit. If you made the mistake of selling to him, my advice would be to KEEP him talking! The more he says, the worse he looks. • Buyer files return request under defective but then admits in the next message that he based this belief on what he could hear and feel moving INSIDE the packaging. This shows the buyer filed the request before even opening the package. I literally had to ask the buyer to please open the package and inspect the item before I could authorize a return. • Buyer stated he would have refused the package (I wish the buyer had actually done this as he would have been ineligible for eBay's buyer protection, as the buyer has an obligation to receive the package sent to them). • Buyer grew increasingly antagonistic and insulting as he did not get his way. • Buyer was not willing to go full dark-side, and did not damage the packaging or the item to play along with the tale he told eBay and PayPal. The buyer was also unwilling to say the unit was in fact actually damaged or defective in all of our correspondence, so I believe the buyer may have some sort of semi-functioning conscience left. Hope this helps someone. |

A scammer doesn’t have to try very hard to steal your money, as most transaction sites are built to protect the buyer.
