This Buyer is an absolute con artist. She ordered a Michael Kors Designer Handbag from my Amazon store, worth $268, and then opened a return request, stating I sent her the wrong bag.
I have been selling online for over 10 years, I run a small shop and never make mistakes like that. I wrote the Buyer, asking for a photo of what she claims was sent to her, and if the mistake had been mine, I would pay for return shipping costs. (My normal return policy is Buyer pays return shipping costs and the refund is less a 15% restocking fee, and original shipping costs.)
I asked her twice, to send photos, which she didn't do.
I also asked her for photos of the Tyvek bands attached to her bag. To prevent fraud, all of our items are sent out with Tyvek Security Bands, which cannot be removed, unless they are cut off. Our return policy clearly states that if the Tyvek Bands have been removed, or tampered with, the return could not be processed. The bag we mailed her had two, bright yellow Tyvek Bands attached to it. One was attached to the handle and one was attached to the removable MK Charm, on the front of the bag. The unique numbers from those bands were on her packing slip as well, which further identified the bag.
The Buyer then opened an A-Z claim against me, where I presented my case, and Amazon asked her to provide proof of her claim, which she again refused to do. (How hard is it to shoot a photo with your phone? Everyone is on their phone 24 hours a day.) Her refusal to send visual "proof" of this "wrong item sent" upped our concern that she was trying to pull off a fraudulent return.
She wrote Amazon, outraged, that I was questioning her ethics. She stated she had never had such a "bad" experience, buying on Amazon, in the past.
I checked the box on Amazon, that "allowed" the return (since I knew I had to accept it anyways), and then she called regular Amazon Customer Service (not the A-Z claim), stating she wanted me to pay for return shipping.
I told her again, she would need to provide us proof, that we sent the wrong bag, before we would pay for return shipping. She again refused our request, which to us, could only mean, she was going to ship back something completely different.
She then emailed again, stating that Amazon Customer Service, had "graciously" paid for her return shipping, which was "more" than what I did for her.
When her return arrived, my associate videotaped me, opening her package, showing her return label, (which showed the package came from her.) The box was also not large enough to accommodate the bag that was shipped to her, of which I took photos and videos of, as proof.
When I opened the box, there was a heavily used and damaged, Michael Kors bag inside, that we had never sent to her, since:
This buyer, Michelle Beigel, was caught red-handed, as a liar, a cheat and a fraud.
This Buyer managed to scam me AND Amazon out of a brand new, $265 Michael Kors Handbag, she got Amazon to pay for the return shipping, on this fraudulent return, and then, of course, she leaves me inappropriate 1-star feedback, stating I had sent her the wrong bag.
I did win the A-Z case on Amazon, because of the proof I provided, and per Amazon policy, I was at least able to keep a 50% restocking fee, to recoup the cost of the bag I lost, to this lying, cheating customer.
Amazon then went on to pay this Buyer, the remainder of the balance, even though I won the case! Gotta love Amazon....
I hope that no other Seller has to deal with this crazy buyer and her lies.
She is registered as a Business Buyer on Amazon, and ships items to her business address.
Gotta love small "business" owners, who cheat other business owners, out of their money and products.
In my 10+ years of selling Designer and Luxury Handbags online, I have never been cheated by anyone, like this Buyer, Michelle Beigel.
